Brightness Adjustment Imaging with Maintenance of Contrast

BAI-MAC™ Technology

Red Dichromatic Imaging

One of several new technologies available with the EVIS X1™ endoscopy system, Brightness Adjustment Imaging with Maintenance of Contrast (BAI-MAC™) technology is designed to correct the brightness of dark portions of the image while maintaining the brightness of the brighter portions of the image to increase visibility of distant areas.1

Observing a long or large cavity or an organ with protruding parts was often difficult with past endoscopic systems. The image was bright in the near field but dark in the far field, which meant the endoscopist must continuously adjust their scope position and/or their brightness setting on the processor to establish good visibility. Additional scope manipulation adds time to a procedure, and increasing the brightness introduces halation across the image.

Fortunately, BAI-MAC technology is designed to enable an image to be bright in both the near and far fields without the need for scope movement or introducing halation.1 It can be set to ON by default as a User Preference setting on the CV-1500 video system center, and it is available for use with both white light and Narrow Band Imaging™ (NBI™) technology; however, it cannot be used with Red Dichromatic Imaging (RDI™) technology. BAI-MAC technology is also incorporated into Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging (TXI™) technology, which enhances an image’s brightness, color and texture during endoscopic screening.2

The EVIS X1™ endoscopy system is not designed for cardiac applications. Other combinations of equipment may cause ventricular fibrillation or seriously affect the cardiac function of the patient. Improper use of endoscopes may result in patient injury, bleeding, and/or perforation. Complete indications, contraindications, warnings, and cautions are available in the Instructions for Use (IFU).
