TJF-160F/VF Duodenoscope FAQs
How are the new reprocessing instructions different?
The new TJF-160F/VF Reprocessing Manual features changes including:
- Increased flush volume during precleaning, manual cleaning, and rinsing processes.
- Raising and lowering the elevator during the precleaning and manual cleaning processes.
- Inclusion of the MAJ-1534 cleaning brush during manual cleaning of the distal end and forceps elevator steps.
- Additional steps related to the cleaning of the distal end and forceps elevator of the endoscope.
- Precleaning and manual cleaning are now required even when using an Automated Endoscope Reprocessor (AER)
Can I reprocess all of our TJFs the same way?
No. The TJF-160F/VF now requires users to conduct all precleaning and manual cleaning steps even when using an AER that allows users to skip some steps in the process. It also includes the MAJ-1534 cleaning brush during certain reprocessing steps. Other TJF models have different reprocessing instructions. Please be sure to meticulously follow the reprocessing instructions in the specific Reprocessing Manual for your device.
Can I reprocess my scope in any AER?
The TJF-Q160F/VF can be reprocessed in the Olympus OER-Pro. For all other automated endoscope reprocessors (AERs), Olympus recommends that you contact the manufacturer of your AER for further guidance and clarification on compatibility
Does this corrective action change the design of the TJF-160F/VF?
No. This removal and corrective action is for the TJF-160F/VF Reprocessing Manual only. There is no repair or design change to the endoscope.
Do we need to return our TJF-160VF & TJF-160F to San Jose for an elevator replacement? How about EUS scopes?
No. This removal and corrective action is for the TJF-160F/VF Reprocessing Manual only. There is no repair to the endoscope associated with this corrective action.
I have a mix of 160 and 180 TJF scopes. Is that a problem?
No, it is not a problem. Be aware there are differences in reprocessing between the two models. Please meticulously follow the instructions in the specific Reprocessing Manual for your respective scope models.
What is the MAJ-1534?
The MAJ-1534 is a new addition to the TJF-160F/VF Reprocessing Manual, used for cleaning the forceps elevator and elevator wire of this scope.
Is the MAJ-1534 single-use?
No. The MAJ-1534 is designed for multiple uses, with the expectation of at least 10 uses per brush.
Will we need to send our TJF-160F/VF in for service?
No, not related to this corrective action. Olympus strives to continually improve the design and materials in our products, and the reprocessing methods associated with our products. This action is related to enhancements to the reprocessing method.
